Sweat is the most effective way in which human beings regulate their corporal temperature.
When the liberation of sweat exceeds the thermoregulatory needs of the organism this clinical condition is called hyperhidrosis.
Treatment for hyperhidrosis
The sweat glands are responsible for liberating sweat. For the liberation of sweat to occur, it is necessary, for this gland to be stimulated by a substance called acetylcholine.
BOTOX® acts avoiding the temporal liberation of acetylcholine and as a consequence sweat is no longer produced.
What we observed was that in a time lapse of 4 to 10 months of therapeutical effect, there is an average of 6 months, depending, off course, of the individual response of the patient to the treatment.
BOTOX® vs. other treatments
The external application treatment for hyperhidrosis are frequently inefficient, they work for short periods of time and are usually not well tolerated.
The quirurgic treatment provides long term effects, but is associated to quirurgic risks such as anesthesia or compensatory hyperhidrosis effects which have been described to be 54% to 90% of all treated cases.
Recent scientific studies proved that 92% of all patients treated with BOTOX® declared to be satisfied or completely satisfied as a result of the treatment.
It is considered to be fast, safe and efficient procedure that rarely presents significant collateral effects.
The commonly affected areas are the arm pits, hands and feet.
